Hudson Valley QDMA Branch Receives Grant

QDMA/NRA TEAM UP FOR HABITAT IMPROVEMENT

Highland, New York – The Hudson Valley Branch of the Quality Deer Management Association (HV-QDMA) was recently awarded a grant from another local New York State based conservation organization – the Catskills Region Friends of the National Rifle Association (NRA). The grant of $4500.00 was used by the HV-QDMA Branch to purchase food plot equipment which can be loaned for FREE to members and affiliates in the area. The “Food Plot on Wheels” program will benefit hunters and landowners who may have an ATV or small tractor but can not afford expensive farm implements. The equipment consists of a 4′ Plotmaster, 6′ x 12′ Trailer, 300 lb Cyclone tow behind pelletized spreader and a 25 gallon Boom less ATV sprayer. “This is a fine example of how outdoor sporting organizations can work together to benefit hunters, landowners, wildlife, and the environment”, said Charlie Fiscella, President of HV-QDMA.
Every year the Friends of NRA generously awards a grant to a deserving cause through an application process. “We will be sure to put these resources to good use and it will help Improve habitat throughout the Hudson Valley for all species of wildlife” Fiscella said. “Giving people a better understanding of wildlife and habitat stewardship, along with the positive aspects of shooting sports, is what the QDMA and NRA are all about” continued Fiscella. “We have already had requests from area gun clubs to plant their shooting ranges and we believe this will be a very successful program.”
